CIEE: Liberal Arts in Buenos Aires

Program Overview

The CIEE Study Center in Argentina includes specialized courses at FLACSO in a variety of disciplines taught by experts in various academic fields exclusively to CIEE students. In addition, you will be required to enroll in direct enrollment courses within academic departments and faculties at one of the three host institutions. The CIEE program is suitable for undergraduate students with very strong language skills. All courses are taught in Spanish.

In this program you will develop your Spanish through various advanced language workshops, and your knowledge of Argentina through a variety of specialized area studies electives. Enroll directly in courses in a wide array of academic departments at the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA), and Instituto Universitario Nacional de Arte (IUNA). This arrangement allows you to combine the more personalized “think tank” atmosphere offered by CIEE with the vibrant and challenging Argentine university life of UBA, UCA, and IUNA.

You will take four to six classes per semester, including one or two FLACSO courses, a Spanish language course if required, and three to four direct enrollment university courses within specific academic departments and faculties at UBA, UCA, or IUNA. If you place in Spanish levels 0-6 on your language placement exam administered upon arrival are required to take a Spanish language course at their level. You may take a second Spanish language course in place of a direct enrollment course.
