The Business and Society program offers students at the advanced language level the opportunity to solidify their Spanish language skills, while gaining an understanding of economic and business management in Spain and the European Union. The program combines coursework, related lectures, internships, and company visits. In addition, you will have the opportunity to directly enroll in regular University courses.
During the first few weeks, you will take Intensive Spanish for Students of Business and Economics. During the remainder of the semester you will enroll in four additional courses, at least two of which must be business courses. Business courses are chosen from CIEE Business and Society courses (SEBS) or regular University courses in business at the Universidad de Sevilla or UPO. For your remaining courses, you have the option of taking Cursos para Extranjeros at the advanced level, CIEE courses (including courses from other programs), or additional language courses. Depending on language placement results, students with lower language levels may be required to take Advanced Spanish Business Writing.
All courses are taught in Spanish. For further information about the program, including dates and course information, please visit: Business and Society in Seville, Spain
If you are interested in applying to a CIEE program, we strongly advise you to meet with an advisor prior to applying.
Selection for the program is based on a review of your written application, recommendation, transcript(s), and completion of the interview process. Qualified applicants are recommended by a GEO Study Abroad Program Advisor. The final selection of participants is made by CIEE.
IMPORTANT: Application for a CIEE program involves two parts:
- Completion of the GEO application process.
- Completion of the CIEE application process.
Please note that the GEO deadline supersedes the CIEE deadline. An application fee is due at the time of application and is non-refundable under any circumstances.
- At least 5 business-related courses in either micro or macroeconomics, accounting, finance, management, marketing, or statistics
