Toshizo Watanabe Scholarship

The Toshizo Watanabe Study Abroad Scholarship is being offered by the U.S.-Japan Council, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit that contributes to strengthening U.S.-Japan relations. The scholarship provides financial assistance to undergraduates or graduate students for a semester or year-long study abroad program in Japan. It will cover up to the full cost of attendance. Factors such as financial are taken into consideration into determining the award amount.

  • U.S. citizens
  • Currently in good academic standing at an accredited college or university in the U.S.
  • Will be enrolled in a credit-bearing course of study at a college, university or approved academic center in the U.S. or Japan in the upcoming academic year.
  • Demonstrates financial need for international study (i.e. Without financial assistance or support, would not be able to study abroad)
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have been raised by a single parent or who have lost both parents (i.e. orphan)
  • Preferred: Applicants without significant international travel or study experience

 
Application Requirements: The scholarship requires several items such as an application form, personal statement essay, resume, letter of recommendation, Study Abroad Advisor Certification Letter, financial aid certification, and academic transcript.
