Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) scholarships are available only to CIEE program participants. These grants are awarded each year to students who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need. The awards are applied directly to the applicant’s CIEE program fee. Note: Beginning with the Summer 2017 scholarship cycle, students will apply for the Melinda Tims Memorial Scholarship through the General Study Abroad Scholarships application.
The Melinda Tims Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students at the University of Oregon for study abroad during the summer. One or two scholarships from $750 - $1,000 will be awarded each year.
Diversity Abroad and CISI are proud to award planning scholarships to students of diverse backgrounds at Diversity Network Member institutions (UO is a member). Planning scholarships are an opportunity to provide students with scholarship funds that will help them make the decision to study abroad. The awards, for $1,500 each, will be awarded to students to study abroad in the Fall the following year, and may be used to cover expenses for which financial aid is not readily available such as passports and visas, flights, program deposits, etc.
The Diversity Abroad Network “Diversity Network” will offer summer scholarships in the amount of $1,000 for full-time undergraduate (both community college and university level) students attending a member institution. Applicants must be full-time undergraduates at a university or community college based in the Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom or the United States.

Fall 2017 Scholarships:
The Richard D. Fulmer Endowed Study Abroad Scholarship provides a $1,000 scholarship annually to one UO student participating in a UO-sponsored study abroad program or IE3 internship over the summer. Selection is based on academic merit, project proposal, and a well-completed scholarship application. The GEO Scholarships Committee will review applications and make the awards.
The Smith Family Study Abroad Scholarship provides multiple awards of up to $1,000 for University of Oregon students who will study, intern or conduct research outside the United States. Selection is based on academic merit, project proposal, and a well-completed scholarship application. The GEO Scholarships Committee will review applications and make the awards.
Obtaining a passport is one of the first steps to complete when considering studying abroad. In an effort to support University of Oregon student participation in study abroad programs, the Office of International Affairs has funded a passport initiative. This initiative awards a grant that covers the cost of a U.S. passport book and first-time processing fee to all eligible freshman and sophomore standing students.
Foundation for Global Scholars (FGS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspire young leaders in cultivating cultural competence and tackling global challenges with international experience who will intentionally create positive and sustainable impacts. FGS offers multiple awards of $3,000 annually through the GRIT (Globally Remarkable International Traveler) Program.
The Global Oregon Initiative invites UO undergraduate students to apply for one of ten $500 research awards and UO graduate students to apply for one of five $2,000 research awards offered to support global education experiences (intensive study abroad, international internships, international research opportunities, participation in international events). The award can be used for activities between May 1, 2017 and April 1, 2018.
