Marketing in Vienna

Program Overview

Learn about business practices in a context of cultural immersion and gain valuable skills in basic German. Expand your understanding of marketing in an international context, completing key marketing courses while learning about the specific context of Vienna. This program is open to undergraduate students in all business majors and international studies majors with a professional concentration in international business. It includes advanced coursework in marketing and makes ample use of the Central European context for applied case studies.

Academic Details

University of Oregon Instructor Lynn Kahle will teach the two marketing courses,  Consumer Behaviour and International Marketing. These are supplemented by lectures and field activities with other specialists. German for Business will be taught by a local instructor of German as a second language.

Lynn Kahle is an Instructor of Marketing at the University of Oregon Lundquist College of Business.

Housing Description

You will live in a homestay arrangement with a Viennese family with at least two students per homestay household. Housing may be a Viennese house or apartment near public transportation routes. Students have access to laundry and cooking facilities and breakfast is provided daily. You will be responsible for providing your own lunch and dinner daily. This housing arrangement provides you with an excellent opportunity to experience life in Vienna as the Viennese do.

Additional Requirements

  • A least one introductory course in marketing, preferably UO MKTG 311: Marketing Management
  • Undergraduate students in any field of business, as well as international studies majors with a professional concentration in international business.
  • Business students from partner universities should address, in their application essay, the relevance of this study abroad experience to their academic and professional goals.
