Note: These study abroad programs are only open to students enrolled in the University of Oregon Chinese Flagship program. The one exception is the CIEE Shanghai program, which is also open to non-Flagship students.
Students in the UO Chinese Flagship program are required to participate in a summer study abroad program as well as the Capstone year abroad. Visit the UO Chinese Flagship website for more information about preparing for summer study abroad programs and for the Capstone program.
Capstone Year Abroad:
The Capstone program lasts roughly a year, half of which is spent on academic coursework, and half of which is comprised of an internship. You may start the yearlong program in either late August or mid-February. During the first semester, you will enroll in classes at Nanjing University in Nanjing or National Yang-Ming University (NYMU) in Taipei. In addition to Chinese language courses, you will take regular academic content courses alongside local students. Students select courses to take based on your majors and interests. Toward the end of your Capstone year, students participate in an internship with a business or organization that matches your academic study and career aspirations.
