Program Overview

In the summer psychology program, students explore the development of modern psychology, its relationship to politics and art, and role of psychology in Central Europe's turbulent past. This program introduces students to diverse psychological aspects of Prague's rich heritage. It offers students a unique opportunity to experience the transition of the Czech society from communism to a fluid political and social environment.

Each session includes one weekend excursion, as well as class excursions that are linked to academic themes. Cultural activities are organized with the aid of Charles University students.

Application process

CIEE offers three different summer sessions. UO students can choose from either Summer Session II, Summer Session III, or both Summer Sessions II and III. Summer Session I is not open to UO students, as it overlaps with the end of spring term. UO students looking for a longer summer study abroad program are able to combine the last two sessions offered by CIEE. Consult with your GEO Study Abroad Advisor before starting an application.

If you are interested in applying to a CIEE program, we strongly advise you to meet with an advisor prior to applying.

Selection for the program is based on a review of your written application, recommendation, transcript(s), and completion of the interview process. Qualified applicants are recommended by a GEO Study Abroad Program Advisor in the Office of International Affairs. The final selection of participants is made by CIEE.

IMPORTANT: Application for a CIEE program involves two parts:

1.    Completion of the GEO application process.
2.    Completion of the CIEE application process.

Please note that the GEO deadline supersedes the CIEE deadline. An application fee is due at the time of application and is non-refundable under any circumstances.
