Program Overview

The CIEE Study Center has been based at Khon Kaen University since 1991 and its initial focus on development was established three years later in 1994. The Community Public Health program combines traditional classroom instruction with extensive field study involving government, private, and public health agencies, as well as visits to local communities. You will be required to take Public Health Management of Thailand, Community Public Health, Public Health Field Practicum, and one Thai language course at the appropriate level.

According to the World Health Organization, Thailand has “a long and successful history of health development,” yet it continues to struggle with public health issues such as HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis. On CIEE’s Community Public Health program, you will examine these issues and more on regional and national levels through classroom instruction, fieldwork, and research with the help of health agencies, and visits to local communities. In addition, you will develop your Thai language skills, and explore this youthful, educated city.
