GEO Center Scholarship

The GEO Center Scholarship is a new opportunity available to all students (UO and non-UO) who are interested in participating in GEO Center programs during Winter/Spring 2020 Semester or Spring Quarter 2020.

Multiple awards of $3,000 - $5,000 are now available!

If you are applying to any of the following programs, you are eligible for the new GEO Center Scholarship:

Dean Method Scholarship for First-Generation College Students

The Neville Dean Method Scholarship aims to support first-generation college students who are planning to participate in a study abroad program or international internship during the summer. Dean Method was a first-generation college student who received an associate’s degree from Chemeketa Community College and then a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon. He was the first in his family to attend college. This scholarship in his name is meant to help provide access and student success to first-generation college students at the University of Oregon.

Kosse Scholarship for Study Abroad in London

The Kosse Scholarship is a donor-funded opportunity to support students participating in study abroad programs in London. A scholarship of up to $5,000 is available for one UO student who is majoring in Business or Journalism and will be participating in a GEO-sponsored program in London. This includes programs such as, but not limited to, Liberal Arts in London, Global Business with Internship in London, Psychology in London, and others. Preference is given to students participating in programs that are at least 10-weeks in length.     

Global Oregon Undergraduate Awards

The Global Oregon Initiative invites UO undergraduate students to apply for one of ten $500 research awards and UO graduate students to apply for one of five $2,000 research awards offered to support global education experiences (intensive study abroad, international internships, international research opportunities, participation in international events). The award can be used for activities between May 1, 2017 and April 1, 2018.

Freeman Internship Fellowships - For East and Southeast Asia

Administered by the UO Center for Asian and Pacific Studies (CAPS), Freeman Internship Fellowships of up to $5000 are available for students conducting internships in East or Southeast Asia. For information on eligibility requirements and the application process, please visit the Freeman website. Applicants are encouraged to submit draft applications to the GEO office for review prior to submitting the application.  

Freeman Asia

Freeman-ASIA (Freeman Awards for Study in Asia) is designed to support U.S.-based undergraduates with demonstrated financial need who are planning to study overseas in East or Southeast Asia. The program’s goal is to increase the number of U.S. citizens and permanent residents with first-hand exposure to and understanding of Asia and its peoples and cultures.

Award recipients are required to share their experiences with their home campuses or communities to encourage study abroad by others and fulfill the program's goal of increasing understanding of Asia in the United States.

FEA Rainbow Scholarship for LGBTQI Students

This scholarship, funded by the Fund for Education Abroad, will be awarded to a deserving LGBTQI student who aims to participate in a high-quality, rigorous education abroad program. Applicants must be U.S. citizens currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college in the U.S. The study abroad program must be eligible for credit at the student's educational institute and a minimum of 4 weeks abroad. Students interested in being considered for this annual scholarship should indicate this through their FEA scholarship application forms.

FEA PDX Abroad Scholarship

UO Portland students are eligible for this scholarship for students attending a university in Portland. Applicants must be U.S. citizens currently enrolled as an undergraduate student. The study abroad program must be eligible for credit at the student's educational institute and a minimum of 4 weeks abroad.
