This complex of farms, food forests, natural areas, and structures dedicated to education and lodging is located in a transitional dry tropical forest north of Bahía de Caráquez. The farm is built around permaculture principles and serves as a demonstration site for sustainable farming and agroforestry practices. Our time here will expose us to a model of sustainable development that integrates food production, forest conservation, education, and ecotourism. It will also give us the opportunity to better understand the problems of deforestation and land conversion taking place in the Río Muchacho valley outside the boundaries of the farm.
