Spanish Language - Pronunciation and Phonetics

This course offers the opportunity for students to learn and practice the correct pronunciation of Spanish with the aim of obtaining greater security and confidence in interacting on a daily basis with Spanish-speakers.  More specifically, the course focuses on teaching students basic concepts of phonetics, spelling and intonation of Spanish with the aim for them to be able to identify and reproduce both oral and written versions of all the phonemes of the Spanish language.In the Spring Semester this course is offered in Block B.

Special Education in Mexico

Students will study the current special education system in Mexico, be provided and will teach in publicly funded school programs for students with disabilities with the support of locally interpreters. Before departure students will prepare lesson plans and all teaching materials necessary to implement their lesson plans in Spanish. 

Visual Journalism

This course combines intensely practical sessions covering the skills and techniques necessary for producing broadcast standard visual journalism with discussion and debate on the shifting tectonic plates in the industry. Students will hear from – and be able to question - leading figures from major TV and online news organisations and they will have the opportunity to spend time in the TV News studios at the headquarters of the BBC. By the end of the course, they will have created their own TV programme.

Second Year Spanish – Composition

This intensive course is part of a complementary three-class curriculum including Grammar A2 and Conversation A2, which together cover the second year of Spanish (SPAN 201-202-203). In this writing course the students of intermediate level produce different types of texts, such as: descriptive, narrative, argumentative and expository in situations of daily and academic use.

Second Year Spanish – Conversation

This intensive course is part of a three-class complementary curriculum including Writing A2 and Grammar A2, which together cover the second Spanish year (SPAN 201-202-203). In this course students practice intermediate grammar of Spanish with fun oral dynamics so that students develop their production more, have confidence speaking in everyday situations.

Spanish History

This course is offered at the 2nd year Spanish (A2) level. It examines the history of Spain from the Paleolithic to the present, focusing on the main political, social, economic and cultural transformations and the different historical moments that forms the basis of Spain.
