Who Should Participate in a GlobalWorks Intern Abroad Program?

Scholarships and Financial Aid

Freeman Fellowship

GlobalWorks International Internship fellowships up to $6,500 available for qualifying students. Submit your Financial Aid Award Offer and provide a reference for recommendation.

Eligibility: US citizen/permanent resident, UO degree-seeking student, 2.75+ GPA, accepted to East/Southeast Asia internship program.

Other GEO Scholarships

GEO offers additional scholarships with varying requirements. Visit the scholarships page to learn more and find the right scholarship for you. Additionally, your academic department might offer their own scholarship for international education and internship programs.

Using Financial Aid

Most forms of financial aid can be used for all GlobalWorks International Internships. As part of financial planning, make sure that you have reviewed all the different funding sources that are available to you. Visit the UO Financial Aid page to learn how to apply financial aid to study abroad.

To start an application, visit a GlobalWorks program page and apply directly through the application link provided.

Applying for a GlobalWorks International Internship is pretty simple if you follow these steps. Once you are accepted, GlobalWorks typically guarantees placement in your preferred location and career field(s). The approval and interview process takes roughly 3-4 months from when you apply to when you are notified of your internship placement.

Courses + Credits

Our program seamlessly integrates professional internships abroad with your academic curriculum, ensuring that your global experience enriches both your career prospects and degree progress. GlobalWorks offers two required courses to support students in developing intercultural competence and professional growth during their international internships. 

Details

  • Earn up to 12 credits on a GlobalWorks program:
  • Internship: up to 8 credits
  • Intercultural Communication online course: 4 credits 

Count toward your major: Many UO departments will allow students to apply their internship credits towards their major (link to How to Count Internship Credits Toward Your Major Requirement)
