Central Region

Explore multiple cities, including Elmina, Kakum and Cape Coast, the regional capital of the Central Region, during this overnight trip. Tour the Elmina Castle, take a canopy walk through a tropical rainforest and enjoy the sand, waves and breeze of the Atlantic Ocean.

Day Excursions

Local excursions will include visits to museums, cultural centers, memorial sites, government offices, and non-governmental organizations dedicated to peace and the promotion and protection of human rights.Day-trips: Students will participate in 1-2 day-long trips to Croatian towns to visit cultural events (e.g. festivals) and/or visit human rights organizations.  The purpose of the day-trip excursion is for students to better understand how human rights and peace studies are embedded into local Croatian culture.

Weekend Excursion

Students will participate in a weekend excursion to a location on the Dalmatian coast.  Students visiting Split will have the opportunity to tour Diocletian’s palace, tour the old city of Split, and visit the local beaches.  Optional day-trip excursions (e.g. sailing, visits to local islands, and hiking in nature preserves) are also available.

Urubicha

Urubicha is a town located directly North of the city of Santa Cruz on the banks of the Blanco River where the Jesuits built one of their missions. Its natural surroundings are spectacular and its lagoons are always full of life. The people here, of Guarayo origin have made it their mission to preserve the baroque music brought from Europe by the Jesuits
