This scholarship, funded by the Fund for Education Abroad, will be awarded to a deserving LGBTQI student who aims to participate in a high-quality, rigorous education abroad program. Applicants must be U.S. citizens currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college in the U.S. The study abroad program must be eligible for credit at the student's educational institute and a minimum of 4 weeks abroad. Students interested in being considered for this annual scholarship should indicate this through their FEA scholarship application forms.

Freeman-ASIA (Freeman Awards for Study in Asia) is designed to support U.S.-based undergraduates with demonstrated financial need who are planning to study overseas in East or Southeast Asia. The program’s goal is to increase the number of U.S. citizens and permanent residents with first-hand exposure to and understanding of Asia and its peoples and cultures.

Award recipients are required to share their experiences with their home campuses or communities to encourage study abroad by others and fulfill the program's goal of increasing understanding of Asia in the United States.

Administered by the UO Center for Asian and Pacific Studies (CAPS), Freeman Internship Fellowships of up to $5000 are available for students conducting internships in East or Southeast Asia. Applicants are encouraged to submit draft applications to the GEO office for review prior to submitting the application.  

Generation Study Abroad offers two awards to assist in financing a study abroad experience in New Zealand.

The Global Oregon Initiative invites UO undergraduate students to apply for one of ten $500 research awards and UO graduate students to apply for one of five $2,000 research awards offered to support global education experiences (intensive study abroad, international internships, international research opportunities, participation in international events). The award can be used for activities that begin on May 1.

The IE₃ Global Scholarship is presented to highly-qualified applicants to IE₃ Global study abroad programs who have financial need. This scholarship is in the form of a $500 - $1500 program fee reduction. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must have a complete application for an IE₃ Global program, as well as a scholarship application.

The Toshizo Watanabe Study Abroad Scholarship is being offered by the U.S.-Japan Council, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit that contributes to strengthening U.S.-Japan relations. The scholarship provides financial assistance to undergraduates or graduate students for a semester or year-long study abroad program in Japan. It will cover up to the full cost of attendance. Factors such as financial are taken into consideration into determining the award amount.

Boren Graduate Fellowships, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, are awarded to currently enrolled graduate students for overseas language study, academic study, research (either Master’s or Ph.D. level), an academic internship, or any combination of the above in geographic areas, languages, and fields of study critical to U.S. national security.
 
Awards are up to $25,000 for overseas study/research and potentially $30,000 for a program that also includes domestic language study. Fellowships should be a minimum of 12 weeks, or a maximum of 1 year.

The UO-Otago Indigenous Studies Exchange (ISE) program provides unique opportunities for select students from each campus to immerse themselves in Native American and Indigenous Studies academic and cultural activities in an international context. The Division of Global Engagement will offer a full scholarship* to two UO students to participate in the ISE program during the Fall 2024 Semester (July – November) at the University of Otago.
 

In an effort to expand access to education abroad, GEO has made available a Scholarship for First Generation College Students. This is a planning scholarship for UO students whose parents/legal guardians did not complete a 4-year college bachelor’s degree. As a planning scholarship, recipients of the GEO Scholarship for First-Generation College Students can use the award to study abroad on a GEO-sponsored program at any time during their college career at the UO.
