Studying abroad in the Galapagos Islands was nothing short of life-changing. I didn’t just learn about sustainability, conservation, and public policy in theory, I lived it. Every day, I hiked through volcanic highlands, snorkeled alongside hammerhead sharks and sea turtles, and collaborated with local communities on real-world environmental projects. Being immersed in such a biologically unique and culturally rich place made the classroom feel alive, and it pushed me to think critically and act intentionally. What surprised me most was how deeply I connected with the people, both locals and fellow students. I expected breathtaking landscapes (which, trust me, delivered), but I didn’t expect to feel so inspired by the shared sense of purpose and community.
