The Joan Bowman Siegel and Mark Siegel Travel Fund will make available 2-4 scholarships of $1,000-$2,000 for undergraduate students participating in UO-sponsored study abroad programs or internships in Asia, with a preference for Japan. Applicants must be enrolled in any major in the College of Arts and Sciences. Selection is based on academic merit and a well-completed scholarship application. Preference will be given to applicants with previous college-level Japanese language coursework. The GEO Scholarship Committee will make the awards.
The Khalid M. Al Suhaimi and Jane L. Goodwin Endowed Study Abroad Scholarship Fund has been established to provide support for UO students who plan to study, intern, or conduct research in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the non-GCC member states of the Arab League, and countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Destination countries are ranked in order of preference below. Scholarship applicants who plan to study, intern, or research in Tier 1 nations will be given preference over applicants going to Tier 2 and Tier 3 countries, respectively.
Annually, up to five (5) $1,000-$1,500 scholarships will be awarded to students accepted for participation in GEO-sponsored study abroad or international internship programs in Japan during the academic year. This award is not available for summer programs. Selection is based on academic merit and a well-completed scholarship application. Preference will be given to applicants with previous college-level Japanese language coursework. The GEO Scholarship Committee will select the recipients.
The Melinda Tims Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students at the University of Oregon for study abroad during the summer. One or two scholarships from $750 - $1,000 will be awarded each year.
Scholarship awards may be used to assist one or more students with expenses related to studying abroad, including course materials, medical insurance, tuition, travel expenses, and housing.
The Bridging Project offers scholarships to American undergraduate students participating in study abroad programs in Japan. Recipients are awarded $2,500 for semester-long programs and $4,000 for academic year-long programs. Undergraduate students majoring in any field are eligible to apply for the Bridging Scholarship for Study in Japan.
Requirements:
Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) scholarships are available only to CIEE program participants. These grants are awarded each year to students who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need. The awards are applied directly to the applicant’s CIEE program fee. The Diversity Abroad Overseas Ambassador Scholarship, in cooperation with the AIFS Foundation, will offer $500 scholarships for fall and spring semesters as well as summer term. Five scholarships are available for each semester and two scholarships are available for summer. Students going abroad for the full fall, spring or summer terms are eligible to apply.
Economically disadvantaged students, first-generation, students with disabilities and ethnic and racially diverse students are strongly encouraged to apply.
This scholarship, funded by the Fund for Education Abroad, will be awarded to a deserving LGBTQI student who aims to participate in a high-quality, rigorous education abroad program. Applicants must be U.S. citizens currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college in the U.S. The study abroad program must be eligible for credit at the student's educational institute and a minimum of 4 weeks abroad. Students interested in being considered for this annual scholarship should indicate this through their FEA scholarship application forms.
