The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for individually designed study, research projects, or English Teaching Assistant Programs.
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is the largest U.S. exchange program offering opportunities for students and young professionals to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, university teaching, and primary and secondary school teaching worldwide. The program currently awards approximately 1,900 grants annually in all fields of study, and operates in more than 140 countries worldwide. Fulbright U.S. Student alumni populate a range of professions and include ambassadors, members of Congress, judges, heads of corporations, university presidents, journalists, artists, professors, and teachers. Bose Corporation founder Amar Bose, actor John Lithgow, composer Philip Glass, opera singer Renee Fleming and economist Joseph Stiglitz are among notable former grantees.
Fulbright Student Program: Study/Research Awards
Awards (for US citizens only) to more than 140 countries for an academic year of study are open to graduating seniors, master’s degree students, Ph.D. candidates, artists, and young professionals. All application materials must be submitted by the campus deadline. UO alumni who have not subsequently matriculated at another university may apply through the UO campus process.

Fulbright Student Program: English Teaching Assistantships (ETAs)
Awards (for US citizens only) to teach English and/or US American culture in one of about 70 countries around the world, with placements in everything from elementary schools to universities. Awards available to graduating seniors and graduate students. All application materials must be submitted by the campus deadline. UO alumni who have not subsequently matriculated at another university may apply through the UO campus process.

Fulbright Student Program: Creative Arts Awards
Awards (for US citizens only) to one of more than 50 countries for the completion of a creative project (in most fields of the arts, including creative writing, music, dance, visual arts, and others) that requires residence in the country. Some countries require enrollment in a training or academic course of study, but requirements vary widely. Applicants may be graduating seniors or graduate students. All application materials must be submitted by the campus deadline. UO alumni who have not subsequently matriculated at another university may apply through the UO campus process.

UK Fulbright Summer Institutes
Awards (only for US citizens) for current freshmen and sophomores (I.e., students with no more than two years of matriculated study on a university campus and at least two years remaining to complete their UO degrees) to participate in one of around ten different summer institutes held at institutions or universities around the UK, including England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Topics and subjects of study vary, from theatre at Shakespeare's Globe, to the creative arts, social sciences, environmental studies, and more. This particular award has no campus application process, so applicants will apply directly to the UK Fullbright office, though Luis Ruiz is happy to advise applicants and comment on their draft statements. Note that participants selected for the award also have the option of enrolling for UO study abroad credits.
