Organizing for Change: Social Movements in Modern Spain

This course explores the origins, dynamics and outcomes of social movements that have mobilized for change in Spain. We will examine efforts by civil society groups to confront both state and corporate powers. We will examine key moments from Spain’s modern history – including the civil conflict before the nation’s civil war, the years of the Franco dictatorship, the movement for a return to democracy, and the global financial crisis.
