Creating Art in an Italian Summer

As a child, I'd always wished that I'd somehow have the opportunity to go to Italy.

Growing up impoverished, and coming into college life as a "non-traditional" student and employee, the dream still seemed like nothing more than a delusion rooted in the idea that somehow I'd be supported in my endeavors. Before I knew it, the Combined Painting and Drawing program in Siena was presented in my ART115 class. I weighed the pros and cons, and decided to take the risk of planning for it.

After I was accepted, I was supported through grants, loans, and scholarships - so much so that I was able to take a month's break from my job and have the trip of my dreams.

Nothing could ever replace the special experiences I had with the group I traveled with, and the incredible sights I saw. Studying abroad is an experience like no other. Don't let your dreams pass you by. If I can do it - you can too.
