Several scholarships are available from external (non-GEO) sources. These vary in eligibility and deadlines.
- Gilman Scholarship: U.S. Citizens, Pell Grant recipients, undergrads only, up to $5,000
- Deadlines in early October and early March
- Up to $8,000 for critical language study
- Supplementat STEM award $1,000 available for students doing STEM projects while abroad
- Fund for Education Abroad: U.S. citizens/permanent residents. Minimum 28 days abroad. Undergrads only.
- Up to $1,500 for Summer programs, $5,000 for a term/semester, and $10,000 for academic year programs
- Rainbow Scholarship: For LGBTQI students
- Freeman Asia Scholarship: U.S. citizens/permanent residents. Minimum 8 weeks abroad in one country. Undergrads only.
- Eligible locations: Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam
- Up to $3,000 for Summer programs, $5,000 for a term/semester, and $7,000 for academic year programs
- Deadline: late March
- Tortuga Study Abroad Scholarship
- $1,000 Scholarship
- Deadlines in mid-November (Winter/Spring programs) and mid-April (Fall programs)
- Diversity Abroad Global Ambassador Scholarship
- Application deadlines October (for Winter/Spring programs) and and April (for Fall programs)
- Students from the following backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply: economically disadvantaged, ethnic & racially diverse, first-generation, LGBTQIA+, and/or students with disabilities
- American Australian Association Veteran's Fund Undergraduate Scholarship
- Supports post 9/11 military veterans undertaking or planning to undertake full-time undergraduate study in any disciplinary field in Australia
- Minimum of one year full-time in Australia
- Up to $40,000
- American Australian Association Arts Fund Undergraduate Scholarship
- Supports emerging or early career artists pursuing artistic development in Australia
- For artists in the fields of theater, film, television, dance, music, visual arts, design, literature, photography and fashion
- Up to $5,000
