Study at a specialized Danish institution in the center of old Copenhagen. This program offers courses in a variety of academic disciplines, including architecture, biotechnology, politics, business, European studies, and related fields. Choose a core course from 28 academic programs and select from over 250 upper-level elective courses. Courses are taught in English by Danish faculty, and integrated study tours in and around Denmark are offered for all programs. With an emphasis on hands-on learning experiences, you have opportunities to simulate real-life scenarios, make connections, and build your resume.
Copenhagen is the capital and largest city of Denmark, with an urban population of 1.2 million. It is also is one of the most livable cities in the world, where locals enjoy a high quality of life in a vibrant capital. It is considered one of the world's most environmentally-friendly cities. On your way to class, you will be surrounded by a network of cobblestone streets, canals lined with colorful houses, public gardens with castles, and spires dotting the skyline. Copenhagen is a pedestrian-friendly city, biking is also a very popular way to get around. With its rich history full of historical buildings and ancient streets, outstanding museums and galleries, the uniquely enchanting Tivoli Gardens and a resident monarchy that is the oldest in the world, the Danish capital has so much to offer students.

Academic Details
This program offers academically rigorous courses in a wide variety of subjects. Each track has one required core course with two accompanying study tours. For your other courses, you can choose from electives related to your program or select courses from a variety of other disciplines. Instruction is in English by Danish faculty.

Summer
During the summer, DIS offers several sessions. Their Summer I session overlaps with spring term, so UO students are not able to participate in that session. They are able to participate in all other summer sessions. Some sessions are only 3-4 weeks long while others are 7 weeks. There are 80+ summer courses offered every summer in a variety of fields at both their Copenhagen and Stockholm locations, and you can mix and match. Note: DIS offers courses on the semester system. This means that 1 DIS credit = 1.5 UO quarter credits. Most classes at DIS are worth 3 semester credits, but some are worth 4-6 semester credits. A 3 credit DIS credits would be worth 5 UO credits. Talk to your academic advisor before selecting which courses you plan to take at DIS.

Additional requirements
Some courses have prerequisites (see DIS Catalog); architecture students must be eligible for the 4/584 studio sequences prior to studying at DIS.
Housing Description
DIS offers several housing choices so you can tailor your study abroad experience to meet your needs:
- Danish host family - Live with a Danish family and immerse yourself in Danish family life. You can also opt for a Career Connect homestay where you live with a family where at least one of the parents works in your chosen field of study.
- Kollegium - Apartment-style residence hall where you will be housed with other students studying at various universities in Copenhagen.
- DIS Living & Learning Community - Co-curricular housing experience that integrates a shared interest through the lens of exploring Copenhagen or Danish culture within your housing experience.
- Residential Community - Live in dorm-style buildings or apartments exclusively with fellow DIS students.
