Rhodes Scholarship

Rhodes Scholarships are the oldest and most celebrated international fellowship awards in the world. Each year 32 young students from the United States are selected as Rhodes Scholars, through a decentralized process representing the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories. Applicants from more than 320 American colleges and universities have been selected as Rhodes Scholars.

Wegmann Scholarship for Chinese Studies

This scholarship supports undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences studying Chinese and accepted to a University of Oregon-sponsored study abroad program in mainland China, Hong Kong, or Taiwan. Scholarship amounts can range from $1,000-$2,000.

The scholarship may be used to assist students with all standard educational expenses including tuition, fees, books, miscellaneous supplies, room and board, and travel associated with the study abroad experience.

Department of German and Scandinavian

The Department of German and Scandinavian strongly encourages students pursuing a major or minor in German Language, Literature, and Culture, German Studies, and Scandinavian Studies to participate in a study-abroad program.

Beth Maveety Study Abroad Scholarship for Germany

An annual award of $1,000 is made available for outstanding students majoring in German, preferably those intending to teach German, to study abroad in Germany. Candidates are nominated by the faculty.

College of Arts and Sciences Scholarships

The UO College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) offers numerous undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships for continuing students. Many of these scholarships may be applied to your study abroad program costs. CAS offers different awards based on major, financial need, and merit. 

Two awards in particular are especially relevant to study abroad and global internships:

Golden Key International Honor Society

Golden Key is the world’s premier collegiate honor society, recognizing outstanding academic achievement and connecting high-achieving individuals locally, regionally and globally with lifetime opportunity, reward and success.

Ten US$1,000 scholarships are available each year to Golden Key International Honor Society members who study abroad. Awards are based on academic achievement and relevance of study abroad program to major field of study, as determined by the selection committee. Membership is by invitation only.

Clark Honors College

Clark Honors College students can apply to different scholarships to study abroad, including two specifically created to serve Honors Students at the UO:

Roger and Ginny Reich Scholarship for Study Abroad - Tentatively Available

The Roger and Ginny Reich Scholarship awards $1,000 to a student at the Clark Honors College attending a UO-sponsored study abroad program for a minimum of one full term. Applicants must have a 3.70 GPA.
