En este curso los estudiantes adquirirán los conocimientos históricos e historiográficos que corresponden a la Historia Contemporánea de México (Independencia – siglo XXI). Con base en la revisión de fuentes históricas y de algunas fuentes primarias haremos un recorrido por las grandes etapas históricas que definieron el desarrollo de la nación mexicana. El programa se estructura en cinco bloques temáticos:

Bloque I: De la Independencia a la Revolución de Ayutla

Bloque II: De la Revolución de Ayutla al Triunfo del liberalismo

The Tropical Ecology Program consists of two courses that provide opportunities for students to learn firsthand about some of the important ecosystems found in the tropics including: lowland rain forest, middle elevation montane and cloud forests, and the diverse ecosystems of the high elevation shrub lands (páramo). The first course begins on the UO campus in the spring and prepares students for their studies in Ecuador. It involves students developing a field project that will be conducted in Ecuador.

This course provides an immersion into the nonprofit sector in two developing nations, Thailand and Cambodia. Usually called nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in an international context, these organizations play crucial roles in providing basic services to the populations of developing nations. They also engage in advocacy for human rights and environmental protection. This course will consist of coursework evaluating the role and activities of NGOs in South East Asia.
