Program Overview

This program will teach you about the organizational, operational, and leadership efforts needed to transform organizations into a 'force for good' that helps correct the imbalances in today’s world. Europe is several years ahead of the rest of the world in implementing sustainability standards to which businesses are expected to adhere. Sustainability is increasingly important in a world facing climate change, food insecurity, healthcare challenges, and social/economic inequality. London is populated by companies at the forefront of transformation with new business models that can lead to a healthier society, economy, and environment. This program will offer invaluable lessons in respects to startups and mature businesses alike as they seek to have a more positive impact on the world.

Academic Details

In an era of polycrisis “where disparate crises interact such that the overall impact far exceeds the sum of each part”(World Economic Forum), the program will explore how businesses and their leaders can adapt and transform into a demonstrable force for good that addresses today’s multiple challenges. In Transforming Organizations into a Force for Good (4 Credits), you will explore how businesses and business leaders address the sustainability challenge.

Faculty and Staff

Dr. John Davis is a Professor of Practice at University of Oregon's Lundquist College of Business and chair of BrandNewView, a leadership firm focused on helping organizations become a force for social and economic good. Dr. Davis is a former Fortune 500 executive, having led marketing teams for Nike and served as vice president of marketing and business development at Transamerica, Informix, and Unify. He has also founded two award-winning companies—Northwest Resorts, a boutique resort firm, and BrandNewView. He is a best-selling author and has written books focused on strategy, branding and marketing, higher education, and the global sports business. His eleventh book, Radical Business, details what businesses must do to become a force for social and economic good. Dr. Davis has also published articles in leading journals, including: Harvard Business Review, Dialogue Review, The European, CEO Today, Middle East Business Intelligence (MEED), and the International Journal of Advertising, among others. He has spoken at major global conferences, including: TEDx, World Knowledge Forum, YPOs, The Human Difference, American Marketing Association, BrandFinance, Global Brand Forum, and Entrepreneurs Organization (EO).

Housing Description

Students will be living in shared housing in Central London. Students will be housed in twin rooms in either apartments or studios with shared living spaces. The housing will be conveniently located in either Zone 2 or Zone 3 in London. Students will be within walking distance of the Tube network, local supermarkets, restaurants and cafes.

The housing will be fully furnished and the cooking spaces will be fully equipped with utensils, plates, glasses and cookware. All apartments have Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, linens and 24/7 emergency support.Your program application will have a housing questionnaire to gather information and assist with roommate assignments. Please note that students may share an apartment with students of a different gender.
