Global Economics in London with Internship
Prepare yourself for a future in economics by studying and interning in London, one of the impactful economic centers of the world. The spring quarter Economics in London with Internship program offers the opportunity to gain real international work experience in the field of economics and business and earn major satisfying upper division Economics credit, all while immersing yourself in one of the most significant and fascinating international cities in the world. Gain practical and professional experience in an individualized internship placement in a variety of industry sectors. This intensive program in a fast-paced city will require you to balance your academic, work, and personal responsibilities while allowing you to make progress towards your educational, professional, and personal goals by experiencing all that London has to offer.
Spring Quarter 2021 ONLY:
Subject to UO Travel Approval, students will arrive in London on Sunday, March 28 and take classes remotely while in quarantine for two weeks. Students will begin attending classes in-person on Monday, April 12.
Health & Safety
Students must quarantine for two weeks upon their arrival. They will receive details regarding grocery delivery services, as they should try to arrange this service prior to arriving in London. Students will be required to maintain 6-feet of distance from staff and faculty at all times. They will also be expected to follow all other social distancing requirements with their peers including those that limit group sizes and certain social activities.

You will enroll in two required courses along with your internship placement and required internship seminar.
- Economic Integration of the European Union (equivalent to EC300 level elective)
- Monetary Economics (equivalent to EC470)
- Internship Seminar

All courses and internship placements are recognized and approved for academic credit by the University of Oregon.
London will serve as a classroom as much as the center itself. Academic activities are integrated with excursions, giving you an inside look into the vibrant business culture of the United Kingdom. Courses are taught by British faculty who have experience teaching US students as well as considerable practical experience in the related field they are teaching. Visits to several well-known cultural locations in the city and surrounding area are also planned. All instruction is in English. Courses make use of a variety of materials and texts, all of which are included in the program fee. Students should be prepared for a rigorous academic experience and a busy schedule.
Classes and internship placements will run Monday-Friday every week.

For Spring Quarter 2021, students will be staying in apartments to comply with proper social distancing measures. Students will be housed in single rooms with shared living spaces (kitchen, bathrooms, common space). The apartments will be conveniently located in zones 2 or 3 in London. Students will be within walking distance of the London Tube, local grocers, restaurants, and cafés. Each apartment is fully furnished with beds, desks and a kitchen table and chairs. The kitchens are equipped with refrigerator, stove, microwave utensils, plates, glasses, and cookware. All apartments have wireless internet access, a washing machine, bed linens, and 24/7 emergency support.
Experience life in Central London, living in apartments with 4-6 other students on the program. You’ll be within walking distance of the London Tube, local grocers, restaurants, and cafés. Each apartment is fully furnished with beds, desks and a kitchen table and chairs. You will share a bedroom with one or two other students, as well as the common spaces (bathroom, kitchen, etc.). The kitchens are equipped with refrigerator, stove, microwave utensils, plates, glasses, and cookware. All apartments have wireless internet access, a washing machine, bed linens, and 24/7 emergency support.
