Taught Summer I and Summer IIEste curso se plantea como objetivo la consolidación de los conocimientos del alumno mediante explicaciones teóricas y ejercicios prácticos, atendiendo sobre todo a Los aspectos de la lengua que presentan mayor dificultad. Introducción en las cuestiones más complejas de la gramática. Ampliación del vocabulario. con especial atención al registro coloquial y dialectal (español de España y español de América), y al léxico del comercio y de la economía.

Spanish Culture and Civilization: Contemporary Spain

This course is a historical, political, social and cultural journey through authentic Spain up to the twentieth century. You will familiarize yourself with the Spanish idiosyncrasies and the special and original characteristics of this country and its people. You will also get to know the concerns of the Spaniards (terrorism, unemployment and immigration [CIS survey June 2004]) and understand their causes.In the Spring Semester this course is offered in Block A.

Via Francigena: Trekking Through Italian History

Trek along the Via Francigena (route of the Franks) from the French border to Genoa, along the Ligurian coast of the Cinque Terra, to Lucca and Siena and finally Rome. The present day economic and cultural conditions of towns along the Via Francigena will win our attention as we attempt to understand the communications that defined this route in the pre-modern era of the troubadours, the newsprint world of the industrial era, and the e-world of contemporary times. Students will also enroll in the other regularly offered courses during the Siena fall program as well.

Spanish Culture and Civilization: The Formation of Spain: From the Beginning to the Borbón Dynasty

This course aims to give you a basic idea of Spanish culture and civilization through a study of the main elements of the culture. In this way, you will travel from the Paleolithic age to the eighteenth century. You will witness the most important social and historical events that built the essence of Spain, which are the same cultural characteristics you will experience during this course.
