The GEO London center felt like a second home, surrounded by amazing local faculty and students. Navigating the city's vibrant culture and easy transport system made every day an adventure. More than just sightseeing, this experience was profoundly transformative for me. I found a new confidence in my multi-ethnic identity, connecting with people who share similar stories. Taking the leap to study abroad during the summer was the best decision, leading to unforgettable memories and lasting friendships. With its mix of academics and the incredible city vibe, London is the perfect place to go.

Dr. Amanda Milburn
Site Director
Amanda is responsible for all academic programs at the GEO Center. A native ‘Brit,’ Amanda is half-Scottish, grew up in England, and lived in Wales for almost a decade before moving to London. Her academic background is in nineteenth-century British history, with a focus on gender, class, and national identity. Amanda particularly enjoys helping students navigate British society and culture, and has been working with GEO since 2016.

Mary Hiles
Assistant Director
Mary Hiles essentially manages the GEO in London Centre and tries to ensure everything runs smoothly. She organises excursions and bookings, creates timetables, organises visas, chases faculty, communicates with students, tells jokes, orders toilet rolls, and makes sure the building doesn’t fall down. Mary loves London. She is particularly fond of the many opportunities to indulge her passion for music and literature, having tossed a coin to choose the latter as her degree subject (her post-graduate studies were more carefully considered). She has an English degree from the University of Southampton and a Master’s in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the University of London.

Daniel Stratford
Programmes Coordinator
Daniel Stratford is our Programmes Coordinator at the GEO in London Centre, supporting Amanda and Mary in the organization and managing programs and activities. Daniel holds a Joint-Honours degree in business and Spanish (with a year abroad) and a Master’s degree in International Business from the University of Hertfordshire. Having spent a year studying in Charleston, South Carolina, Daniel has developed a strong passion for study abroad and hopes to help every student create lifelong memories during their time in London. When not at the centre, Daniel is often found at Vicarage Road watching Watford FC, travelling throughout Europe and enjoying the many different amenities that London has to offer.
