My name is Ashley Fale-Olsen and I identify as a gay woman. I have grown up around Portland and have now lived in Eugene for two years. Both growing up, and being on a liberal heavy college campus, being gay is typically accepted, but with some of the political climate in the United States generally, it can often be something I am not immediately open about. When I was thinking about studying abroad, it was something that I made sure to research, since traveling to different countries, and therefore cultures can be a daunting task for queer people.
Tour of Dublin

Accra Tour
Tour the major sections of Accra, visit the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and learn how to ride the "trotro", the cheapest and most common mode of transportation in Accra.
Ashanti Region
During this overnight trip, visit Kumasi, the regional capital of the Ashanti Region, and tour Manyhia Palace, Prempeh II Jubilee Museum and Central Market, the largest open-aired market in West Africa. Tour rural villages—Bonwire, Ntonso and Asouafua-Assimang—to learn about traditional bead-making and textile production.
Volta Region
During this overnight trip, visit Ho, the regional capital of the Volta Region. See the gorgeous Vli Falls, the highest waterfall in West Africa. Visit Tafi Atome and tour a monkey sanctuary in a tropical rainforest.
Desert Castles
A day-trip to several castles built by the Umayyad caliphs during the early eighth century. The murals on these castles capture some of the earliest iconography in Islamic history.
Petra
Petra, a UNESCO heritage site, has been Inhabited since prehistoric times. A Nabataean caravan-city, Petra is situated between the Red Sea and the Dead Sea, and was an important crossroads between Arabia, Egypt and Syria-Phoenicia. Petra is half-built, half-carved into the rock, and is surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. It is one of the world's most famous archaeological sites, where ancient Eastern traditions blend with Hellenistic architecture.
