Location Overview:
The Kansai region is in the southern central area of Japan's main island and serves as a cultural, historical, and economic center of Japan. Outside of the Tokyo metro area, this region is the second-most populated and includes the metropolitan areas of Kobe, Kyoto, and Osaka. Students will indicate their location preference for one of these three cities in the online application. Then, they will work with our vendor to determine the best location depending on their field of work, however, students applying to this region should be comfortable with any of the available Kansai locations.
The three cities in this region are interconnected by the railways and roads that make travel to each city easy. Each location has its charm and personality, and interns can take time to travel and explore each destination. For example, interns can experience the renowned food of Osaka and the brightly lit Dotombori Bridge and neon district, juxtaposed with the Osaka Castle, one of the most famous landmarks in Japan. Interns can also enjoy living history in Kyoto, which at one time served as the capital of Japan and is host to numerous beautiful temples and shrines. Finally, Kobe is a port city that is known for its scenic views of the mountains and the sea and is home to the iconic 'Kobe beef.'
