Location Overview:

The University of Bristol is at the cutting edge of global research and works to serve both the local community as well as the world. It is proud to have made innovations in areas such as nanotechnology as well as prevention research into Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The university has a long and storied history, being founded in 1876 and was created ‘to promote a School of Science and Literature for the West of England.’ It made history by being the first higher education institution in the UK to admit both men and women on an equal basis.

What is GlobalWorks?

GlobalWorks internships are personalized internship programs that bring you out of the country, and into the workplace. We connect academic study with real-world experiences by providing full-time international internship opportunities to UO students in various career fields. Working with local professional internship providers in locations around the world, we provide individualized placements for UO students. Students earn UO credits and life-changing work experience in a different culture. Immerse yourself in a new city, earn UO course credits, and gain professional experience with a GlobalWorks internship.

For this program, students will need to apply through UO and to Bristol directly. They will apply to a specific project they would like to assist with. Note that this program is a collaboration with the STEM Research Projects in Bristol program.

Students will also need to include a personal statement in addition to the normally required GlobalWorks application documents. In this personal statement, students will explain why they are interested in the project of their choice, what experience and background they have in that specific field, and what they can contribute to the project. Your personal statement will be submitted with your GlobalWorks application.

We will also need a reference letter from a professor in your field.  For questions, please contact Globalworks@uoregon.edu.

If you are not a US Citizen: Notify your GlobalWorks Advisor. Students who are not US citizens should contact the consulate in their country of residence about visa requirements, no matter the duration of the program of study.

Applying for a GlobalWorks International Internship is pretty simple if you follow these steps. Once you are accepted, GlobalWorks typically guarantees placement in your preferred location and career field(s). The approval and interview process takes roughly 3-4 months from when you apply to when you are notified of your internship placement.
