London Performing

Instructional Goals. This course will:

  • Introduce students to a variety of current practices in London performance training.
  • Challenge students to critically engage personal learning processes via different training approaches to performance.
  • Inform workshop experience from professional performances in current productions.

Student Outcomes. Students who successfully complete this course will:

Winter Prep Course in London (mandatory)

This course is designed to prepare you for your spring term adventure in London. You will be encouraged to ask questions and actively take part in preparing yourself for your term abroad. You will also be expected to listen to your classmates and respect each other’s differences in order to develop a healthy group dynamic. You will need a notebook or journal, and a London guidebook of your choosing.

London Theatre

The aim of this course is to encourage students to learn about non-musical theatre and how it works. In the theatre we willingly agree to believe in a carefully constructed pretence, so the audience’s contribution to each performance is crucial. Once we have joined an audience we allow ourselves to be manipulated and the experience may help us to know when we are being manipulated against our wills. The theatre is a place of learning and there we learn most about ourselves, our desires, our fears, our prejudices.
