Advanced Technology and Barcelona Data (UO ARCH 410/510)

This course satisfies the Design Technology requirment for Architecture majors at the University of Oregon.  New data collection and computation techniques provide the opportunity for open, experiential and systematic understanding of site. The use of handheld mobile technology and new inexpensive microprocessors and sensors provides opportunity to bring the power of information to the lowest user level without the influence of larger economic and political forces.

Siena, Italy

The city of Siena is a UNESCO world heritage site located in Tuscany just an hour south of Florence. The GEO Center in Siena is located in the 19th century Palazzo Bargagli, within the medieval city walls in the Contrada dell’Istrice (the Porcupine district). It is just across from the Medicean Fortress and a short walk to the Piazza del Campo where the historic Palio horse race is run twice each summer.

London, United Kingdom

GEO’s Centre in London, United Kingdom, is located in a townhouse built around 1720 on a quiet street in Bloomsbury, London’s literary and university district. Only ten minutes’ walk to the British Museum, the Centre is superbly positioned for access to public transport with tube stations and bus routes close by, as well as many of London’s principal galleries, museums and theaters.

Second Year Spanish–Composition

This intensive course is part of a complementary three-class curriculum including Second Year Spanish Grammar and Conversation, which together fulfill the second year of Spanish studies. In this writing course students produce different types of texts, such as: descriptive, narrative, argumentative and expository in Spanish in situations of daily and academic use.

Second Year Spanish–Conversation

This intensive course is part of a three-class complementary curriculum including Second Year Spanish Writing and Grammar, which together fulfill the second year of Spanish studies. In this course students practice intermediate grammar of Spanish with fun oral dynamics so that students develop their production and have confidence speaking in everyday situations.

Spanish History–A2

This course is offered at the 2nd year Spanish (A2) level. It examines the history of Spain from the Paleolithic to the present, focusing on the main political, social, economic and cultural transformations and the different historical moments that form the basis of Spain.
