A historical city set in the heart of the Czech Republic, or Czechia, Prague has been shaped by cultural, political, and artistic history. Nicknamed 'City of a Hundred Spires,' it is one of Europe's best-preserved cities and is noted by it's distinguished skyline and architectural diversity. Walking through the city, students can view medieval, Baroque, Gothic, and Neo-Gothic architecture, as well as iconic sights such as the Hradcany Castle (Prague Castle), old town hall with the astronomical clock and tower, famous cathedrals and towers, as well as iconic bridges that span the Vltava River. As an artistic hub, it was known as the home to composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart well as the renowned author Franz Kafka who was born and spent much of his life in the city.

Although a home for history and architecture-lovers, today, the modern city of Prague is the business, political, and cultural center of the Czech Republic. It blends its rich Bohemian heritage with a modern European identity and makes it an unforgettable internship destination.

Interning in Prague offers a variety of opportunities. As the capitol city, it offers opportunities in business and accounting, as well as fashion and fashion marketing, in addition to fields in architecture and event planning. Students can feel safe and travel by foot or public transportation to their workplace, and after work, can explore museums, enjoy traditional pubs, and find great deals at the public markets.

Apply to UO GlobalWorks International Internship programs by clicking the “Start an Application.” You can open an application to view all the materials you’ll need before you submit. Late applications may be accepted based on position availability but note that for some terms and locations the program can be very competitive. After review by the University, students will need to interview with our third-party provider for final acceptance. For more information, view the full GlobalWorks application steps here. Note that you only need to submit one application per term for GlobalWorks and can identify alternate locations within the application. This program is less than 90 days. Students with a US passport traveling to this location do not require a travel visa for this program. 

If you are not a US Citizen: Notify your GlobalWorks Advisor. Students who are not US citizens should contact the consulate in their country of residence about visa requirements, no matter the duration of the program of study.

Discount for Pell Recipients

To expand access to study abroad, GEO is offering a $500 discount for this program to UO students who currently have the Pell Grant as part of their federal financial aid (FAFSA).

Academic Details

Students will enroll in the following courses: 

  1. OGWI 188: Intercultural Communication (4 credits)
  2. OGWI 488: Internship (8 credits)  

Note: The two courses above are online and asynchronous, and there will not be any in-person lectures. Students can choose the number of credits to take Intercultural Communication for after program acceptance. Housing Description

Students will live in residences that include shared double rooms, shared bathrooms and kitchenettes, 24-hour security, laundry facilities, and access to gym and piano room. Program also includes European-style cold breakfast

Cancellation Policy

At the time of Commitment

Student agrees to $500 non-refundable deposit.  Deposit is refunded if student is not initially accepted by the provider. 
70 - 40 days before program start

Student is responsible for 50% of the program costs and any additional fees accrued.
Less than 40 days before program start

Student is responsible for 100% of the program costs and any additional fees accrued.
Note that scholarship funds are not able to be applied to program deposit.

IMPORTANT: The GEO Cancellation Policy is effective from the time a student agrees to pay their non-refundable program deposit or electronically signs the program commitment form, regardless of application or acceptance status. It is essential to read this policy before a potential cancellation takes place, to fully understand the withdrawal and cancellation penalties, and to understand what it means financially to commit to a study abroad program.

Students who cancel their participation must notify GEO in writing. Email is acceptable (geoinfo@uoregon.edu). Verbal notification to GEO or notification given to a non-UO campus study abroad office is not sufficient.
