This Service-Learning seminar provides students with the opportunity to reflect and discuss their Service-Learning placements on a weekly basis and through written journals. The course will be taught in Spanish while in Segovia and in English while in Fes. The American Association of Community Colleges defines Service-Learning as a combination of “community service with academic instruction, focusing on critical, reflective thinking and personal and civic responsibility. Service-Learning programs involve students in activities that address community-identified needs, while developing their academic skills and commitment to their community.” Students will reflect and discuss their service learning experiences regularly in class and through written journals.  In addition, at the end of the course, students will give a presentation that summarizes the classroom information and reflections of their Service-Learning experience.
