Tel Aviv University (TAU) is a highly ranked university in Israel with a population of 30,000 students, including many international students. You will be able to immerse yourself in Israeli culture while at the same time taking fascinating courses taught in English and studying Hebrew language.

Selection for the program is based on a review of the your written application, recommendation, transcript(s), and completion of the interview process. Qualified applicants are recommended by a GEO Study Abroad Advisor. The final selection of participants is made by Tel Aviv University (TAU).
IMPORTANT: Applications for programs at TAU involve two parts. Both parts of the application are due by the GEO application deadline. Early application is advised.

Application fees are due at the time the applications are submitted and are non-refundable under any circumstances.

Academic Details

Tel Aviv University offers a variety of programs. Credit information: To convert TAU semester credits to UO quarter credits, multiply the number of credits in each class by 1.5. 

Semester/Year Abroad program (fall semester, spring semester, or yearlong): You will take 4-5 classes per semester in a variety of subjects, including arts and culture, business, environmental studies, film and media studies, sciences, history, international relations, Jewish studies, law, Middle Eastern studies, social sciences, and more. Before the beginning of the semester, you will enroll in a required 4-6 week intensive Hebrew language course, called an Ulpan.

Students with advanced proficiency in written and spoken Hebrew may join courses taught in Hebrew at TAU departments, subject to approval by the TAU International office and the relevant department. However, students taking these courses should be prepared to be in Israel longer as the schedule for these courses is not the same as for study abroad courses.

Entrepreneurship and Business in Israel (spring semester only): Known as the “startup nation,” Israel is a fascinating case study for students interested in business and entrepreneurship. You will take two core classes on innovation, entrepreneurship, and finance, plus two electives.
