Myrna earned her M.S. in Educational Leadership and Policy at Portland State University and her B.A. in Anthropology at Linfield University. Her interest in the field of international education blossomed during her undergraduate years after she spent a semester abroad in Dakar, Senegal. After graduating from Linfield, she pursued a year-long teaching assistantship in Montluçon, France, where her interest in the field of international education solidified. Her experiences abroad and her undergraduate experience as a first-generation student of color encouraged her to pursue a graduate program at PSU and eventually a career in higher education. In 2021, she joined UO's Division of Global Education as an International Student and Scholar Advisor, and in 2024, transitioned into her new role as Global Engagement Program Coordinator (GEPC).
In her free time, Myrna enjoys spending time outdoors with her dogs, Bleu and Alekai, reading, and frequenting local coffee shops.
