Myrna earned her M.S. in Educational Leadership and Policy at Portland State University and her B.A. in Anthropology at Linfield University. Her interest in the field of international education blossomed during her undergraduate years after she spent a semester abroad in Dakar, Senegal. After graduating from Linfield, she pursued a yearlong teaching assistantship in Montluçon, France, where her commitment to the field solidified. Her experiences abroad and her academic experiences as a first-generation immigrant student of color encouraged her to pursue the Postsecondary Adult and Continuing Education graduate program at PSU where her research focused on student success. In 2021, she began her career at the University of Oregon as an International Student and Scholar Advisor, and in 2024, she transitioned into her new role as Global Engagement Program Coordinator (GEPC).

In her free time, Myrna enjoys hiking, spending time with her dogs, Bleu and Alekai, and reading.
