Myrna earned her Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Policy at Portland State University and her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology at Linfield University. Her interest in the field of international education blossomed at an early age after immigrating to the US from Durango, Mexico. Since then, she has dedicated her personal and professional endeavors to becoming ethically minded, cross-culturally engaged, and globally driven: in 2017, she spent a semester studying Francophone African Studies in Dakar, Senegal; after graduating from Linfield University, she pursued a year-long teaching assistantship in Montluçon, France; and after earning her master's degree, she began her career at the University of Oregon as an International Student and Scholar Advisor where she worked with the international scholar and faculty community at the UO. In 2024, Myrna transitioned into her new role as Global Engagement Program Coordinator (GEPC) where she now oversees a diverse portfolio of study abroad programs offered at the UO. She primarily oversees programs in London, France, Ecuador, and Senegal, but is happy to connect regarding any GEO study abroad opportunity.
In her free time, Myrna enjoys hiking, spending time with her dogs, Bleu and Alekai, and reading.
