Located about three hours by train northeast of London, the historic city of Norwich dates back to the Roman era. Ruins and architecture from different time periods make it the most complete medieval city in England. Norwich is a thriving commercial center with one of the largest and oldest open-air markets in the country, specialty shops, restaurants, and some 300 pubs. There is also a rich variety of entertainment to choose from, including museums, an art gallery, nightclubs, theaters, and musical venues. In 2012, Norwich became England's first UNESCO City of Literature thanks to the city's long literary history.

Exchange programs differ from other study abroad options and require a high level of independence. University systems outside the US may differ from what you are used to at the UO, both in terms of academic structure and student services. Students most comfortable and successful in these types of programs typically have high levels of self-reliance, resourcefulness, and willingness to adapt to unfamiliar teaching styles and living arrangements.
