DAAD Graduate Scholarships

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers funding to graduating seniors and current graduate studentsfor study and/or research at universities or institutes in Germany. These scholarships provide funds for ten months. In general, student applicants must be US citizens enrolled full-time in a degree program. Foreign nationals may be able to apply if they have been full-time graduate students at the UO for more than one academic year at the time of application. Available for students in all fields except medicine.

Critical Language Scholarship

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program (opens in new window) is a fully funded summer overseas language and cultural immersion program for American undergraduate and graduate students. Intended to broaden the base of Americans studying and mastering critical languages and building relationships between the people of the United States and other countries, CLS provides opportunities to students from across the United States at every level of language learning.

Rhodes Scholarship

Rhodes Scholarships (opens in new window) are the oldest and most celebrated international fellowship awards in the world. Each year 32 young students from the United States are selected as Rhodes Scholars, through a decentralized process representing the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories. Applicants from more than 320 American colleges and universities have been selected as Rhodes Scholars.

Department of German and Scandinavian

The Department of German and Scandinavian strongly encourages students pursuing a major or minor in German Language, Literature, and Culture, German Studies, and Scandinavian Studies to participate in a study-abroad program.

Beth Maveety Study Abroad Scholarship for Germany

An annual award of $1,000 is made available for outstanding students majoring in German, preferably those intending to teach German, to study abroad in Germany. Candidates are nominated by the faculty.
